Congratulations to Amy James (9R) who has won the Pate’s final of this prestigious competition, for her inspiring presentation on Schizophrenia in twins. Runners up were Luke Goddard (9D) who explained the many issues of Antibiotic Resistance and Charlotte Casey (9Y) who enlightened us about Entomophagy.
For the second year, all Y9 pupils have taken part in this County-wide competition organised by Cheltenham Festivals and sponsored by EDF. After receiving training in their Science lessons, pupils gave a 3-minute presentation about any aspect of Science that interested them and were judged on 3 criteria: Clarity; Content; Charisma.
The class winners were:
9A Lucy Arthur and Millie Davis
9D Luke Goddard and Amal Patel
9E David Parsonage and Edward Watine
9P Amy James and Amy Howard
9T Sam Thomas and Charlotte Casey
Following additional training by specially selected young engineers, these pupils took part in the school final on February 1st in front of a large audience and 3 judges.
Amy James will now take part in a 2-day master class on Presentation skills and a day of Work Experience at a local company. She will then represent Pate’s at the County final, to be held at EDF, Gloucester on March 24th. We wish her luck!
