"I want to thank members of Amnesty International all over the world…. Many thanks in particular to the more than 300,000 people that sent letters about my case that were delivered to the Attorney General."
These are the words of Claudia Medina Tamariz, the main focus of Amnesty's Mexican Stop Torture campaign. Many of you will have heard the brilliant news that the Mexican authorities have now dropped all charges against her. We wanted to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone - students and staff - who has supported the Pate's Amnesty Group in any way as a small part in the fight against torture. We think Claudia's case shows how the ordinary people who take part in these campaigns can be really effective and change lives!
Unfortunately, there is still a long way to go. Amnesty is still calling on Mexico to issue an investigation into Claudia's complaints of torture and there are many people all around the world who are still suffering abuse at the hands of the authorities: those meant to protect them.

Once again a huge thank you and we look forward to working more with you all in the future - every person really can effect change.
