After a tough fought first term at Pate’s, the Under 12 Girls Hockey Team have ended on a high by becoming Cheltenham District Champions! The girls braved the wind and rain to win their pool with a 0-0 draw followed by 1-0 and 3-0 wins. The girls faced second place from pool A which was Cotswold School and held on to a 1-0 win to make the final against St Edwards School. The final was a tense match with shots and saves at both ends. Naomi Layzell made a twisting and turning run during the last couple of minutes and struck the ball past the keeper. The girls defended strong and held onto their 1-0 victory to become district champions. The team have showed huge improvement throughout the term and the tournament showcased this. Special mentions to Naomi Layzell, who was the tournament top-goal scorer, and Katy Daly in goal who didn’t let a goal in all afternoon.
Congratulations girls!
