In a busy term Pate’s have re-introduced senior rugby 7s and entered 4 tournaments to match themselves against the best in the Midlands and South West.

On Sunday 1st March at the Marches 7s at Hereford Cathedral School the squad were set a daunting first game against Millfield but pushed them all the way to lose 12-22 in a pulsating opener. The squad entered the Plate semi-final after beating Adams Grammar School, KES Stratford and Worcester 6th Form College before being knocked out of the competition by Barnard Castle School from Durham.

The squad travelled to Solihull School for their next tournament confident they could cause an upset. The played some outstanding 7s rugby, developing their understanding of the game during the day. They beat King Henry VIII Coventry, Shrewsbury, Malvern College, Bablake and Old Swinford Hospital to top their group and enter the CUP competition semi-final. They played the host school Solihull and ran away comfortable winners 26-14. In the final they were matched against a strong and skilful Warwick side that proved a game to far. The squad were rightly very proud of the performance of coming runners up and are looking forward to the Gloucestershire 7s and dean Close 7s over the next couple of weeks.
