On Friday 6th March 27 year 8 girls headed on their netball tour to the PGL site at Liddington. The weekend consisted of playing lots of netball as well as trying out the activities that PGL had to offer.

The netball tournament ran over two days and Pate’s were represented well with 3 teams entered across the two pools of competition. The A team played very well on the first day with convincing wins over the other teams and went in to day two at the top of their pool but had two tough games still to play on the second day. They again played really well to get them in to the semi-finals without a loss.

The second team had many strong wins on day one, losing only one match to the eventual winners of their pool by just one goal. They managed to keep this good form going into the second day and qualified in second place for the semi-finals.

The third team gained lots of invaluable match play and were competitive in all of their matches, winning two of them against Therfield School and The Grange School.

The semi-finals saw Pates A and B team competing against each other for a place in the final. Both teams played well but the A team came out on top and went through to the final against Langley Grammar School. In the final the whole team played very strongly and turned over a lot of ball with some fantastic defending allowing Maddie Roper and Helena Cox to score. They won the match 11-6. Over the whole tournament the A team scored 110 goals which showed their strength throughout.

It was an enjoyable and successful weekend with all of the girls working well as a team in their activities and in their matches. Jemima Jones got player of the tournament for the A team, Eve Knowles-Jackson for the second team and Jasmine Meaden for the third team. Well done.
