Music for Youth - Town Hall

These are the Judges comments from the Music for Youth concert at the town hall on Sunday.

First Orchestra
‘Wow a sophisticated and mature sound. There is a richness to your full orchestra tone that’s in keeping with the best youth orchestras in the country..a very impressive orchestra. Technically assured, clearly focussed sound, disciplined, professional sheen.’

Senior Vocal Group
‘A very mature performance of challenging classical repertoire’

Big Band
‘Great solos and nice to see so many of you featured. The unison full band melodic lines are powerful, bright and punchy’

House Music

The House Music competition held at the beginning of each year provides the opportunity for extensive student leadership. Each of the four houses has to produce an orchestra, a band, a boys choir and a girls choir. The Sixth Form leaders pick repertoire, arrange it, rehearse and direct each of the ensembles. It is a particularly valuable experience for A Level music students. With all of Year 7 and 12 participating, and more than half of the other year groups, it truly is a musical extravanganza!
