Pate’s cross country athletes continue to impress
The talent and commitment of Pate’s cross country runners continues to shine through, this time at the County Championships at Newent on Saturday 5th December. Many athletes from Pate’s were selected to represent Cheltenham against the best from Gloucester, The Forest and South Cotswold districts. All athletes ran well with some impressive finishing positions. Among the medal positions were Molly Powlesland (Minor Girls’, 3rd place), Dan Marshall (Junior Boys’, 3rd place), Inca Padfield (Junior Girls’, 2nd place) and Bethan Moor (Senior Girls’, 2nd place). The Senior teams continued to exert their dominance with 4th place finishes for Libby Cherry (Senior Girls’) and Jacob Pickering (Senior Boys’) in addition to the excellent races from Tom Davies (7th), Maxime Dufour (10th) and Andrew McPeake (14th) in the Senior Boys’ competition. In the younger years, Luke Buck put in an impressive show to finish 25th in the Junior Boys’ competition, despite being a year young for the age group. Elsewhere, Emma Clarke (13th) and Millie Davies (22nd) ran well in the Junior Girls’ race while Laura McPeake (6th) and Jade Gough (7th) continue to demonstrate how friendly and supportive competition can really improve performances. Many of these athletes will now be selected to represent Gloucestershire at the South West Championships being held at Pitville Park this year. Well done and good luck for the rest of the season.
