Dear Parents

KEY DATES FOR ENTRY INTO PATE’S 2011
14th & 15th September @ 6.45pm onwards - Open Evenings for Year 6 pupils/parents
1st October @ 12 noon – Deadline for Exam Registration Forms
9th October – Entrance Test
For all other key dates please see the end of the Gazette.

The last week of term is typical of Pate’s – a sports tour to South America, a Courtyard Concert, Junior House Drama productions from each House, Flexible Learning Days with all manner of activities and opportunities, Language Trips to France, Spain and also to Germany, an immersion trip to China, Year 8 Camp, Charity Day launched by the new Charity Committee (with a Disney theme and fairground rides on the school fields). I will stop the list there but it certainly is not complete! Someone (from another school) asked me if we were winding down to the end of term – nothing could be further from the truth!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Sports Award evening last week. It was good to see dozens of students speaking from the lectern and celebrating both victories and sporting values from a large number of sports. It was a nice touch that each team made a Players’ Player award.

NEW FITNESS SUITE OPENS

Sir Geoff Hurst MBE - Opening of the Fitness Suite – April 2010

Sir Geoff Hurst MBESir Geoff Hurst MBE delivered assembly after the school enjoyed footage of the 1966 World Cup Final at Wembley when 97000 people had crowded in to the stadium where Sir Geoff scored the hat-trick that won the world cup for England.  Sir Geoff talked about the importance of hard work in life to ensure success. He also shared some of his memories of the final itself – not least regarding the infamous decision about ‘that’ goal and the nod of confirmation from the ‘Russian linesman’.

Sir Geoff Hurst MBESir Geoff was in school to officially open our Fitness Suite provided based on donations from parents, alumni and the Pate’s Foundation.
