On Monday morning in school many students observed a minute's silence in the aftermath of the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, which have left us all shocked and stunned. If any students or families would like to talk to us in the wake of these atrocities please do get in touch, either with Heads of Year or myself, and we will offer whatever support we can.
In whole school assembly today the cast of The Sound of Music performed ‘My Favourite Things’ for us, just as a taster for the shows at the end of this week and to encourage the students to come along for a great evening’s entertainment, to support their friends and snap up the remaining tickets!
Congratulations to our Head of PE, Simon Dandy, who was recently voted Sports Teacher of the Year at the Gloucestershire Sports Awards 2015! He was in good company with Young Sports Player of the Year 2015, ex-Pate’s student Flo Pickles. They were both presented with their awards by sports presenter John Inverdale, at an awards ceremony organised by sports ambassadors with the aim of ‘recognising the true heroes of grassroots sport’. Simon earned the accolade through his work with Pate’s rugby, elevating them to a high level in the county with their hugely successful long run of winning matches, including beating Cheltenham College for the first time in decades. Flo, who left Pate’s last summer, is one of the UK’s most promising rowers, winning a string of national titles and also rowing for Team GB Under-23s. I am delighted for Simon and Flo, and for our students, as I know this is such a well-deserved accolade for a member of staff who is so dedicated and well respected by colleagues and students alike. Come to my house if there are other options for me it seems stupid propecia online and it is here that you can hear a lot of interesting facts regarding which you have never heard of.
A message from our Sound of Music Director, Edward Derbyshire:"It has been a real pleasure and privilege working with all the students involved in The Sound of Music. There has been a real sense of purpose during rehearsals, and so much has been learnt beyond the music and dialogue: camaraderie; common purpose; even comic timing! I do hope that you are able to come and see the results of their endeavours, a joyful celebration of individual and ensemble talent from every member of the cast and crew, and a ray of sunshine in the darkness of a northern winter." The cast, band and crew are very excited about putting on this show, as am I, especially having overheard the incredibly high standard of the performers during rehearsal … please try not to miss it! There is still time to buy your tickets for The Sound of Music performances this Thursday, Friday and Saturday 26th, 27th & 28th November @ 7pm –Tickets cost £10 (adults) and £5 (students); available via our website (here) or over the counter at reception. Pre-theatre Yodel suppers are still available to book for the Friday only, at a cost of £10 per head. Please click here for details of the pre-theatre supper menu, which can also be booked via our website.
Volunteers are still needed to help us run the interval bars in the Refectory for next week's much anticipated Sound of Music. Friday and Saturday evenings during the interval are still a tad short for help so please consider clicking on the volunteer Doodle (here) and ticking a short time slot where you could help.
On Friday 13th November numerous Pate's athletes battled through the rain (and considerable mud) at the annual Cheltenham District Cross Country Championships at St. Edward's School. They represented themselves and the school brilliantly, with many now selected to represent Cheltenham at the County Championships. Highlights included the Junior girls team (Y8&9) and the Senior boys team (Y12&13) both winning their respective competitions. In addition to the team competitions, Molly Powlesland, Joe Speak and Alex Chantler-Mayne all won their races! Well done to all involved and best of luck for those competing in the next round.
