This morning’s whole school assembly was led by the first ever Development and Alumni Committee, whose brief it is to keep students informed about how the school is performing financially, updating them on current fundraising and projects. The team of sixth formers are specially selected ambassadors for the school, attending social functions, such as reunions, and personally maintaining links with ‘friends’ of the school. They showed a fun and informative film this morning and we look forward to hearing more from them during their term of office.
Rehearsals are now underway for the school show ‘Lawless’, written by sixth formers Caitlin Devlin (script) and Josh Cottell (score). Please note that there have been changes to the rehearsal schedule – please click here for details of the amended schedule (as far as 7th November). Tickets will be on sale next week!
Higher Education and Careers Fair – Wednesday 2 November 2016 @ 6-7.30pm. Our annual HE and Careers Fair is taking place on the evening of Wednesday 2 November. This year we will be hosting over 40 universities and more than 30 local and national companies and gap year organisations in the hall and gym. We hope that parents and students in Y9 and above will be able to join us for what is an important part of the top level Careers and Higher Education advice on offer to our students in order to enable them to make sound judgements and decisions for A levels and beyond. There is no need to book a place, just come along.
Musical Theatre Event, organised by Sam Tilley (Y13) on Friday 4th November @ 5-7.30pm in the hall: Come along for a fun-filled night of entertainment as a group of talented Y13’s raise money for Scoo-B-Doo; a charity that supports the Neo-Natal at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in caring for sick and premature babies. Tickets are free and can be reserved here. I hope you are able to come along and support Sam and our talented performers.

School Transport update: I would be grateful if parents could advise students to wear seat belts on the school buses (a legal requirement in most cases). One of our students suffered a minor injury this week, when the bus he was travelling on had to brake suddenly, which could have been avoided if he had been wearing a seatbelt. Please click here for further information on seat belt wearing regulations and recommendations. Thank you for your support in this.
Lost Property will be available for sifting this week: we have large amounts of clothing, shoes and bags which have been handed in and these will be on display before half term. Parents are welcome to come in and browse - please encourage students to check through it as well. All named items will be returned to the owners. Please note that ANY ITEMS NOT COLLECTED WILL BE RECYCLED OVER HALF TERM.
Finally, just a reminder that it is our Diwali Celebration this weekend – Saturday 15th October 5-7pm (doors open at 4.30pm) in the hall. Last minute tickets can be purchased on the door, costing £20 (family), £8 (adults), £3 (students). You will be so glad you came along! All proceeds to Making £nds Meet.
