School show – Lawless 18th, 18th & 19th November @ 7pm – Tickets are now available here!
Three Year 13 students – Caitlin Devlin (book and lyrics), and Rudy Percival and Josh Cottell (score) took up the suggestion that Pate’s should have a brand new musical for the School Show in 2016. So now, stupendously, we have the score for a modern and comic interpretation of The Two Gentlemen of Verona called Lawless. It is phenomenal and is what our school is all about – by the students, for the students.
Lawless is a brand new show with an engaging and fast-moving storyline. The plot centres around four characters: two brothers, Matt and Jason, and two female protagonists, Julia and Silvia. After a night of revelry, Jason is sent to stay with his ambitious older brother in the big city where, apparently ‘dreams come true.’ He leaves behind the girl of his dreams, Julia. However, barely has he arrived in the city before falling for Silvia, his new boss’ daughter. A love triangle between Matt, Silvia and Jason ensues. We have already met the chaos and hubbub of the city, in its chorus of people about their daily lives, and now we encounter a gang of disgraced lawyers who are plotting against Jason’s boss. In true Shakespearean style, chaos follows, with unpredictable results... Please come and support the company of over 100 students across all year groups, who will give you a night to remember and a proud first for our school. Tickets cost £10 (adults) & £5 (students) and are available to buy on Ticketsource (here) or over the counter at Reception.
First week of term events:
Higher Education and Careers Fair – Wednesday 2 November 2016 @ 6-7.30pm. Our annual HE and Careers Fair is taking place on the evening of Wednesday 2 November. This year we will be hosting over 40 universities and more than 30 local and national companies and gap year organisations in the hall and gym. We hope that parents and students in Y9 and above will be able to join us for what is an important part of the top level Careers and Higher Education advice on offer to our students in order to enable them to make sound judgements and decisions for A levels and beyond. There is no need to book a place, just come along.
Musical Theatre Event, organised by Sam Tilley (Y13) on Friday 4th November @ 5-7.30pm in the hall: Come along for a fun-filled night of entertainment as a group of talented Y13’s raise money for Scoo-B-Doo; a charity that supports the Neo-Natal at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in caring for sick and premature babies. Tickets are free and can be reserved here. I hope you are able to come along and support Sam and our talented performers.
