House Art prizes were announced in this morning’s assembly and prizes given by Hannah Gardner. House Art is always very popular, but we feel this year’s exhibition is the best ever. The downside is how extremely difficult it was to judge! Individual prizes were awarded to those who had interpreted the theme particularly well and, after much deliberation (it was impossibly close!) trophies were awarded as follows: Lower School – Pembroke; Middle School – Richmond; Upper School – Beaufort. Congratulations to everyone involved! My thanks to Head of Art, Hannah Gardner, and the Art team for organising everything and inspiring us every day with the quality and quantity of art on display around school. Well done to the House Officials for putting together such a professional exhibition. Please click here to see the prizewinning artwork.

Hamper Scamper – donations much appreciated THIS WEEK ONLY! Our sixth form Community Committee launched operation Hamper Scamper this week – a local Christmas Giving Scheme, designed to spread a little cheer to some of the most disadvantaged children, young people, families and vulnerable adults at Christmas. As a school we will be helping this initiative by collecting donations of food and other items which many people lack, especially around Christmas. These will then be collected and packed for those in need. There will be a collection box in each form room and there are posters around school showing the items we need. The form with the biggest collection will receive a prize! The final collection date is 9TH DECEMBER! CCP always need young and enthusiastic volunteers to help sort, pack and wrap all the donations given, so if this interests anyone please do not hesitate to email the community committee (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) for more information.

Community Committee is also running a Christmas Card competition – entries from any age welcome. There will be a collection box in Reception and the cards will be sold for charity at the German Christmas Market next weekend.

Upcoming Events:
The Hockey/Netball 2017 tourists would like to invite you to their auction evening on Friday 9th December at 7pm in the Refectory. With Christmas fast approaching, this is a great opportunity to bag some amazing early Christmas presents. Lots consist of various fantastic items kindly donated by variety of contacts and the tourists themselves – everything from tea for two at Ellenborough Park and golfing / racecourse events, to vintage spirits and Christmas turkeys! Please click here for the catalogue of lots. Doors open at 6:40pm, along with the cash refreshment bar filled with a selection of beverages. The evening aims to raise money towards the girls’ hockey/netball tour to South Africa in the summer of 2017.  RSVP by booking your free place online here.
We welcome Silent Bids - if you are unable to attend the auction on Friday, but still interested in bidding on the generous list of lots then please email Mr. Renton (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) with your contact details, lot name and your highest bid by Thursday 8th December 16:00pm deadline. Thank you – and good luck!
Shows in the Studio present: 'Blackout' by Davey Anderson. James wakes up in a prison cell, accused of attempted murder. Through this intensely physical retelling of his young life, we learn to see the world as James does, and to discover his innocence. Please join our Year 12 Theatre Studies students in their first public performance as they explore this uncompromising, and yet ultimately uplifting, text in innovative and surprising ways. Performances are on Thursday & Friday 8th & 9th December, 7.30 til 8.30pm in the Performing Arts Studio – please follow this link to reserve a free ticket.
German Christmas Market at Pate’s on Saturday 10th December 11am until 2pm – please join us for lots of lovely Christmassy stalls, refreshments, fun and games and the world's supply of chocolate and cake!
Candlelit Carol Service – Wed 14th December @ 7pm at Christ Church: A perfect start to the Christmas celebrations, do join us in beautiful Christ Church (Malvern Way) to hear our singers and musicians in their element and join us for a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie, compliments of the Parents’ Association.

Congratulations to the Music Department and their Big Band, which played in the National Concert Band Festival on Sunday. Each band is marked according to set criteria and there are 4 different awards available - Big Band got a platinum award (the best obviously!), which means they have been put through to the national finals in April. They played completely brilliantly so it was well deserved! Thanks Gill Mew, who leads the band, and our Director of Music, Ellie Lane – it is thanks to them in particular that our band enjoys such a high profile.

Second-hand school uniform - for all those in need of uniform, the well-stocked Uniform Shop will be open a week on Monday (12th December - the last week of term) from 3pm for 45 mins. Just arrive at the main reception and you will be directed from there.

Meanwhile donations of uniform are URGENTLY needed - there is a great demand across the board for lost kit or outgrown items. The PA needs skirts, current sports kit and small sizes of everything! Please have a clear out and drop donations in at Reception during the coming week. Thank you.

We have an abundance of cake tins left by our star bakers following the recent concert at Gloucester Cathedral - these are available to collect from our lost property office (at Main Reception).  Here is a photo of the PA in action in the cloisters at the catheral.
