Welcome back and a happy New Year! Christmas already seems a long time ago but I wanted to share this fun photo of the whole school dab, which I took from the stage just as we all set off for the holidays!

We had a great last day of term – House Dance was incredible and the results were: Junior Cup Pembroke, Intermediate Cup Richmond, Senior Cup Beaufort. Congratulations to them and to everyone who took part!  House Dance was a very tough act to follow, but nevertheless the staff bravely put on a Christmas variety show to show our appreciation for the many ways the students entertain us all year round. We have now put away our wigs and costumes for another year and are well into the business of the spring term.

Hot off the New Year press! This year’s School Newspaper journalists have launched their first edition of the 'Pate’s Review', the school magazine for students and by students. It is fun, intelligent and creative and there is something in it for everyone. Please follow this link to enjoy it.  Well done to Amelia, Fin and the team – not forgetting all those who contributed!

Forthcoming Events:
Y10 Drama performances (devised pieces) on Thursday 12th January 7-9pm in PAB (free entry): Come along and see the Year 10 devised pieces, based on a genre or practitioner, and each no longer than 18 minutes (five groups in total). The students have worked very hard on this original work and are delighted to welcome you. It will also be Year 9 Options Evening, so there will be a (silent) transitory audience, too. The students will, however, be far from silent. Please follow this link to reserve a seat

CHORAL CONCERT - CALLING ALL PARENT SINGERS - CARMINA BURANA! On Wednesday 22nd March the school choirs will be performing Carl Orff's very exciting and extremely famous work 'Carmina Burana' (in times past known as 'the music from the Old Spice advert'!). This is also an opportunity for any parents who would like to, to join in. There will be a 4pm rehearsal on the day (at All Saint's, Pittville), as well as Sunday evening rehearsals in school from 7pm-9pm on Sunday 19th March and Sunday 19th February. Scores will be available at the first rehearsal, and for the less confident there are several online websites that help with rehearsing the individual parts for this piece. If you would like to take part, please could you email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. stating which part you would like to sing.

Schoolcomms Gateway / ReVal / money in school: Just to let you know that the ReVal machine (lunch money tokens) has been updated to take the new £5 note. Also a reminder about the online payment system Schoolcomms (and mobile app) which makes payments to school / lunch money so quick and simple, and eliminates the problems that bringing money into to school can bring. Here is the Schoolcomms link with full information and a reminder of the variety of services available through Schoolcomms and how to make use of them.

In school we are running the January Mock GCSE and A Level exams and I would like to congratulate Y11 on being half way through, and wish Y13 good luck with their revision. As always, I would like to hear your feedback on school life – please do email me @ This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
