This year’s House Cup winners were announced in yesterday’s assembly and trophies awarded to Head Boys & Girls, as follows: JUNIOR CUP – PEMBROKE (2nd Richmond, 3rd York, 4th Gloucester, 5th Beaufort); INTERMEDIATE CUP – RICHMOND (Joint 2nd Gloucester/York, 4th Beaufort); SENIOR CUP – BEAUFORT (2nd Richmond, 3rd Gloucester, 4th Pembroke, 5th York). Points were incredibly close all round, so congratulations are due to everyone on a spectacular battle, well fought! Also in assembly, the incoming Head Girls & Boys drew lots for this term’s House Drama competition. The theme this year is legends from around the world and there was a buzz of excitement as the following titles were announced: Beaufort – ‘Anansi and the Chameleon’ (African); Gloucester – ‘Sinbad the Sailor’ (Persian); Pembroke – ‘The Firebird’ (Russian); Richmond – ‘Child of Water and Little Blue Rock (Native American); York – ‘The Girl with Rose Red Slippers’ (Egyptian). I know the House officials will already be busy in discussion and scriptwriting and we are all very much looking forward to seeing (and hearing) what cultural enchantment they produce - I can’t wait!

Current Job Vacancy – ICT / AV Technician: Please follow this link to the Pate’s website for detailed job description and person specification.

I would like to express my sincerest thanks to our fabulous Parents Association. Following their recent very generous donation enabling us to purchase our much needed additional server, they have subsequently donated a further £2243 in support of our School Council’s suggestion to add an additional bike rack and additional outdoor picnic benches. The support we receive from our PA is so vital in these financially constrained times and I know the committee would like me to pass on my thanks to all those who help he PA in any way, enabling them to provide such a significant level of support. Thank you.

Continuing with the Parents’ Association, we have just heard that the Bag2School collection has raised another £464. Thank you to everyone, particularly the students who have travelled in on buses carrying large bags of clothes, for supporting this collection – that is hugely appreciated.

‘How to Reappear’ – one woman show starring Gemma Bolwell on Thursday 4th May @ 7-8.30pm in PAB: Some of our students will remember Gemma, who is a friend of the school and who has run some drama workshops this year. We are delighted that she has agreed to bring her show to Pate’s – it is a creative, funny and heartwarming performance. Tickets cost £8 (adults) and £5 (students) and are available on Ticketsource (here). Gemma will also be running a question and answer session for the audience after her show.
