Today we were delighted to welcome Julie Girling, Conservative MEP for the South West & Gibraltar, who gave a fascinating talk to our Sixth Form Politics students on the workings of the EU and Conservative party policy. I am delighted that, by the end of term and in the run up to the general election, we will have hosted a mix of political speakers and ideals. My thanks to staff for organising these opportunities.

Come to my house if there are other options for me it seems foolish propecia online and it is here that you can hear a lot of interesting facts about which you have under no circumstances heard of.

Rehearsals are in full flow for Wizard of Oz performances on Thurs-Sat 20th- 22nd November. (Please click here for a reminder of the rehearsal schedule.) The students have directed and produced their own trailer, which was shown to students in assembly this morning and which you can see here. Tickets cost £10 (adults) and £5 (students) – please follow the Ticket Source link below to the website to book your tickets / pre-theatre suppers, or alternatively complete and return the ticket order form (here).  A reminder of the pre-theatre munchkin supper menu:  Kansas Hotpot (vegetarian option available) followed by Dorothy’s Apple Pie, at a cost of £10 each and this will be served from 5.30pm on each of the performance nights (timing to coincide with student drop off time, although cast members can also have suppers). If you have already booked tickets but would like to order suppers this can be done via the link below, or by completing a supper order form (here).

Performers are also very busy rehearsing for next week’s spectacular Autumn Concert on Thursday 13th November at 7pm in the hall. This will be packed as usual with exciting and talented performances and there will be something for everyone - featuring Pate’s Jazz Orchestra, Pate’s Big Band, First Orchestra, Second Orchestra, Girls Choir, Boys Choir, Senior Vocal Group, Chamber Choir, Flute Choir, Dixie Band and Shining Brass. Entrance cost £5 (adults) £3 students (payable on the door).

Hundreds of students are working very hard with rehearsals and preparations for these events over the next few weeks – please do come along to both if you can, for what I can guarantee will be a fabulous evening’s family entertainment. There will be a full bar and refreshments available as always provided by our brilliant Parents’ Association.

Please note the INSET days on Friday 28th November and Monday 1st December. These will be home study days for students and buses will not be running. If necessary, in the event that there is a problem accommodating youngsters at home please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will make the necessary arrangements for students to be supervised in school.

Are you able to help by being an interviewer in our Year 11 Mock Interview Day? The interviews are taking place during the morning of Tuesday 9th December. You would be asked to interview 4 or 5 students for 15 minutes each, asking them questions based on their CV that you will have in front of you as well as general interview questions that are asked in professional job interviews today. You would also need to fill in a feedback form for each to help them improve their interview skills. Parents in the past have found it very interesting and rewarding speaking to the fantastic students at Pate's and I hope you are able to spare some time in your busy schedule. The only remuneration though I am afraid will be plenty of refreshments! Please can you reply to Debi Howell, Head of Economics and Business by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you are able to help. Thank you.

We will be holding our annual Charity German Christmas Market in school on Saturday 13th December between 11am and 1pm.  Year 7 and 8 will soon be preparing their stalls, games and food all with a German theme.  This is also an opportunity for stallholders to have a table and sell their wares.  If you or someone you know would like to book a place in the market or find out more please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. The Bank of England's annual Target Two Point Zero challenge is nearly here! This year’s Pate's' Target 2.0 Team would sincerely appreciate your help by answering their relatively short consumer or business survey (please click here to download) by Tuesday 11th November. The research will enable them to gain a better more accurate understanding surrounding the current economic atmosphere closest to us, and hopefully help them progress throughout the competition! The Parents' Association are looking for any second hand uniform that you may have, particularly cricket and football kits.  (Please send any donations into the school office.)

Second-hand school uniform and kit will be available for parents and students to browse on Friday 14 November at 3.30pm. There is a large selection available to choose from but if you have any particular requirements please contact Bhavna at the Parents’ Association by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. I am grateful to all the students who put their names forward for the recent School Council elections, enabling the process to work so well. The majority of students took the opportunity to vote, and in a number of year groups there were only one or two votes between candidates, so it was very close. Congratulations to the following newly elected School Councillors: Luke Buck & Madhumitha Kumar (Y7); Oviya Anand & Al Clark (Y8); James Nicholls & Ben North (Y9); Junaid Hameed & Max Ashton-Lelliott (Y10); Libby Cherry & Becky Wright (Y11); Hayden Searle, Edwin Silverthorne & Emily Zavala-Platt (Y12); and Calum Bradshaw, Tara Goatley & Alex Wray (Y13). I wait with interest to hear their ideas and suggestions.

Students from all year groups are beginning to bring in their House Art entries, on the theme of ‘Openings’, which will be on display in the Art Gallery from the end of next week. Every piece of artwork submitted will form part of the exhibition, which I have no doubt will be as fascinating as ever!  Once the entries are judged we will announce the winners of the various categories in assembly on 5th December!

Yours sincerely
