As we start the new term, I would like to thank all of you who have supported/are supporting the Annual Fund, ‘Riding the Rapids’ 2014-15, the associated Piano Appeal and the Parents’ Association. I would also like to add additional thanks as a result of an anonymous donation directly in support of the ‘Tech’ aspect of the Annual Fund specifically to purchase a set of radio microphones and their associated battery packs. This is incredibly kind and provides a fantastic additional resource for our performing arts department and our tech capability generally. With extremely challenging financial times ahead such acts of generosity provide me with a great feeling of hope and determination that we can keep Pate’s special. I am very grateful for all of your support. ‘Riding the Rapids’ has so far raised £26,639 – THANK YOU.

Come to my house if there are other options for me it seems silly propecia online and it is here that you can hear a lot of interesting facts about which you have never heard of.

It has been great to welcome everyone into school after what I hope was a relaxing family break. It is back to business as usual following last term’s whirlwind of Christmas activities! My belated congratulations to Year 7, who raised an impressive £960 from their German Christmas Market (proceeds to Sue Ryder, Little Princess Trust, James Hopkins Trust and Cheltenham Open Door). It was a very festive occasion with lots of chocolate!

Staff Vacancy - Assistant Exams Officer (part-time)

A message from Patents:
The parents’ and staff drama group ‘Patents’ meets every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in Performing Arts. This term we are planning theatre visits, as well as work on a production of our own. It is an opportunity to have fun doing something completely different. All are welcome, even if just for the social aspect (we have every type of teabag and an unusual selection of snacks). Maybe you would like to pick up the drama you left behind at school, or try the sorts of activities the students are currently involved in, or just introduce us to a new flavour of tea… Some feedback from the group: “the sessions are invigorating, challenging and fun” and “we have never laughed so much”. Please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for more information, or just turn up on a Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in PAB.

Upcoming Events:
Music Recitals – Wed 14th January @ 7pm (A Level recital) and Thursday 22nd January @ 7pm in the school hall. Tickets available on the door (no advance booking).
Tuesday 27th January – early finish for students and Sixth Form Open Evening for Y11. Buses will arrive early at 2pm.

Trips Update:
Y10 Geography field trip to North Wales
– please note that the balance of payment of £125 is now overdue for this trip. Please organise payments as soon as possible. Click here for a reminder of the latest correspondence.

Last term Pate's Young Enterprise team brought us their walking calendars, and their second product will be a unique 'Cotswold cake' made with fresh, local produce. They are looking for either a baker or a chef, to help them with a recipe for the cake, and to potentially help produce this cake. If anyone is interested and able to help, or has any contacts who may be able to, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Thank you!

Congratulations to Sophie Crane (Y12) took part in the UK Maths Team training camp in Hungary over the holiday period. This followed an outstanding performance in the Senior Maths Challenge (in which she scored full marks) and the subsequent British Mathematical Olympiad. This is an exceptional achievement, particularly as most of the national squad were a year older.

Congratulations also to Robin Hedley (Y12) has been selected to go to Canada this year with the British Cadet Rifle Team going to Canada 2015, and that Mike Bumford (ex-Pate’s student) will be representing the Great Britain Under 19s in South Africa in 2015. Very well done to both and my thanks also to Jane Jowett for all her support of the team.

I was delighted to receive a note out of the blue this week from Rebecca Salter, who left Pate’s to go to art school in 1973 and who has recently had the great honour to be sworn in as a Royal Academician. How wonderful for her and what an inspiration she must be to our students when she says “It’s been a long journey, but it began at Pate’s…”  Do have a look at Rebecca’s website (here) and Instagram (here).

Yours sincerely
